Like many of the world’s citizens, we are looking at the opportunity that the re-start of the economy could provide. Around two thirds of the world’s commercial aircraft were parked or in storage and passengers – business travellers, friends and family and tourists supporting many global economies – were left stranded as governments placed rapid travel restrictions in every part of the globe. At the peak of the shutdown, traffic was down 94% compared with the same period in 2019. The effect of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic on the global air transport sector has been stark.
